CRIATERRA creates construction materials that are as strong as concrete, with more thermal resistance, yet only a fraction of the environmental imprint. We are transforming the industry through our sustainable and energy efficient design.

The Problem

Nearly 40% of global energy consumption and one third of global waste are from construction. Wasteful manufacturing processes are costing billions of dollars. The world is moving towards green construction (market expected to reach $523B in 2026). Regulators and leaders in construction are seeking cost-efficient green solutions. This is important for us all.

CRIATERRA's Solution

CRIATERRA’s products represent the next-generation of composite building solutions. Our products are made of natural elements (minerals and vegetal fibers). They are scientifically designed to enable a wide range of prefabricated applications including building blocks, wall tiles, and other products for construction and decor, all with scalable production.

CRIATERRA brings value with our patented and patent-pending combination of structurally strong, sustainable materials. Our products are also thermal resistant, providing maximal comfort in different weather conditions, reducing heating/cooling costs, and conserving energy.

We have seen bio-plastics transform the plastic industry, and today CRIATERRA is helping create a shift in sustainable construction. Until now, construction materials have turned natural resources into products that eventually become waste. CRIATERRA is introducing a circular material economy, in which materials are re-usable, preserving the economic value of our natural resources.

Product & Service

About our products

CRIATERRA’s technologies are the result of three-year scientific and technological R&D studies involving more than 1,000 material samples. Our testing has enabled us to achieve strength properties and our products have been approved by the standards institute.

When creating green building products, we believe it is not enough to make minor reductions in ecological footprint. CRIATERRA has redesigned the entire lifecycle of these products from an eco-innovative protocol, without compromising sustainability, strength, and affordability. Few competitors are doing this.

We have launched our first product, a collection of interior wall tiles. They can be viewed in the gallery and on our website.

Our upcoming product lines will be a collection of outdoor wall tiles followed by a line of masonry blocks. With these product lines, we will be able to replace some of the most widely used components in construction.

CRIATERRA’s products are:

  • Natural + Degradable + Recyclable (made from up to 70% recycled ingredients)
  • 600% thermal resistance compared to concrete
  • 3% GHG (greenhouse gas) emissions compared to cement
  • Designed to fulfill the vision of a circular economy

Go-To-Market strategy

CRIATERRA’s initial Go-To-Market strategy is to build up B2B sales and establish a distribution network in Europe and the USA. We have proposals from numerous distributors for our launch.

CRIATERRA’s production facility can produce up to 10K sqm wall tiles annually and we will increase capacity for future scalability. CRIATERRA’s interior wall tiles have already been installed in several commercial projects including restaurants and hotel rooms.

Our next step is to work with partners towards developing and licensing advanced building solutions such as masonry blocks, outdoor tiles, and thermal panels based on our IP.

CRIATERRA is in discussions with several companies that are testing the materials and potential and have shown a high level of interest. We have signed letters of intent and expect partnership agreements to be signed in 2019.

Our projected price is $83 per sqm for the indoor wall tiles. This is in the mid-high range for the industry, due to our initial production volume. It is our goal to scale significantly and partner with manufacturers. This will allow us to offer our building solutions at competitive prices in the future.

Competitive advantages for our business partners

Our discussions with potential business partners are based on our ability to increase their competitive advantage in the following ways:

  • CRIATERRA partners will be early movers in the green building market
  • The combination of design and material quality creates products with thermal resistance
  • Our material technology supports Smart 3D engineering and design to create advanced solutions similar to the design possibilities enabled by plastics

Innovation Grant Awards

CRIATERRA has received grants from the Israel Innovation Authority for developing the company’s unique technologies.

Team Story

CRIATERRA was founded by Adital Ela when she decided to apply her expertise in industrial design and sustainability to fulfill her vision to change the world of construction. She is the second generation of a family of building entrepreneurs.

Adital’s mission is to introduce innovation into the way our natural resources are used to create construction materials. We have long become accustomed to using materials that are heavily processed. This results in products that become waste that is no longer biodegradable. The solution to this problem is made possible by applying contemporary science and technology to native knowledge. Adital has created CRIATERRA to make this a reality.

CRIATERRA is led by a creative team of designers and material engineers including Adital Ela, Zvi Cohen, Elor Levy, and Dan Eliash. Leat Applbaum ensures that we leverage our funds to create maximal value and build a scalable business. Daphna Wiener is an active board member, building our long-term strategy and our company growth plan, and ensuring a strong value proposition for our investors.

We at Criaterra see an enormous opportunity in building a business that brings value to all.

Frequently Asked Questions

Making an Investment in CRIATERRA
How does investing work?

When you complete your investment on SeedInvest, your money will be transferred to an escrow account where an independent escrow agent will watch over your investment until it is accepted by CRIATERRA. Once CRIATERRA accepts your investment, and certain regulatory procedures are completed, your money will be transferred from the escrow account to CRIATERRA in exchange for your securities. At that point, you will be a proud owner in CRIATERRA.

What is the difference between preferred equity and a convertible note?

Preferred equity is usually issued to outside investors and carries rights and conditions that are different from that of common stock. For example, preferred equity may include rights that prevent or minimize the effects of dilution or grants special privileges in situations when the company is sold.

A convertible note is a unique form of debt that converts into equity, usually in conjunction with a future financing round. The investor effectively loans money to a startup with the expectation that they will receive equity in the company in the future at a discounted price per share when the company raises its next round of financing.

To learn more about startup investment types check out “How to Choose a Startup Investment” in our academy.

What will I need to complete my investment?

To make an investment, you will need the following information readily available:

  1. Personal information such as your current address and phone number
  2. Employment and employer information
  3. Net worth and income information
  4. Social Security Number or passport
  5. ABA bank routing number and checking account number (typically found on a personal check or bank statement)

Because CRIATERRA is offering its securities under Rule 506(c) of Regulation D, your status as an Accredited Investor will also need to be verified and you will be asked to provide documentation supporting your income, net worth, revenue, or net assets or a letter from a qualified advisor such as a Registered Investment Advisor, Registered Broker Dealer, Lawyer, or CPA.

What if I change my mind about investing?

Until a closing occurs, you may cancel your investment at any time, for any reason. You will receive an email when the closing occurs and your securities have been issued. If you have already funded your investment and your funds are in escrow, your funds will be promptly refunded to you upon cancellation. To cancel your investment, please go to your portfolio page.

After My Investment
How can I sell my securities in the future?

Currently there is no market or liquidity for these securities. Right now CRIATERRA does not plan to list these securities on a national exchange or another secondary market. At some point CRIATERRA may choose to do so, but until then you should plan to hold your investment for a significant period of time before a “liquidation event” occurs. A “liquidation event” is when CRIATERRA either lists their securities on an exchange, is acquired, or goes bankrupt.

How do I keep track of this investment?

You can return to SeedInvest at any time to view your portfolio of investments and obtain a summary statement.
