Our mission is to provide the most accurate, predictive and meaningful sickness forecasts in the world for the purpose of reducing healthcare costs and saving lives.

Everyday thousands of people around the globe update social media sites like Facebook and Twitter when they (or someone close to them) get sick. Just as Doppler radar scans the skies for indicators of bad weather, Sickweather scans social networks for indicators of illness, allowing you to check for the chance of sickness as easily as you can check for the chance of rain.

Sickweather knows where sick people are, and where they will be, with real time and predictive insights at the point of incidence using patent pending social listening technology and advanced data modeling.

Our illness forecasts and infectious disease models provide insights at zip code and street level with predictions up to weeks in advance--not only for caregivers to know when and where illness outbreaks occur, but also for consumer healthcare brands, pharma, and retailers to better manage their supply chain. Our platform serves nearly 5 billion API requests per month,  and allows people to see cold and flu activity in real-time (vs. waiting for the weekly CDC flu report).

Product & Service

Sickweather licenses illness data, risk, and forecasts via our Sickweather Pro dashboard, API, and custom solutions through direct sales and strategic partnerships.  We help power digital OTC/pharma advertising spends, which uses our SickScore API to trigger ads and messaging for cold, cough, flu, and allergy remedies.  For example, when Sickweather data was used to trigger ads for Theraflu, GlaxoSmithKline reported a 1.5-2x increased ad engagement and 4% increase in category sales.

SickScore® is an illness risk model developed by Sickweather. This analytic tool measures activity of up to 30 different illnesses and symptoms in an area to generate an index value between 0–100. That score indicates the relative health of that geographic location.

Team Story

Sickweather was founded by friends and caretakers who wanted to know which illnesses were trending in their area to provide more informed care for their loved ones.  The company has been built by experts in public health, epidemiology, data science, software engineering, and life sciences.

Frequently Asked Questions

Making an Investment in Sickweather
How does investing work?

When you complete your investment on SeedInvest, your money will be transferred to an escrow account where an independent escrow agent will watch over your investment until it is accepted by Sickweather. Once Sickweather accepts your investment, and certain regulatory procedures are completed, your money will be transferred from the escrow account to Sickweather in exchange for your securities. At that point, you will be a proud owner in Sickweather.

What is the difference between preferred equity and a convertible note?

Preferred equity is usually issued to outside investors and carries rights and conditions that are different from that of common stock. For example, preferred equity may include rights that prevent or minimize the effects of dilution or grants special privileges in situations when the company is sold.

A convertible note is a unique form of debt that converts into equity, usually in conjunction with a future financing round. The investor effectively loans money to a startup with the expectation that they will receive equity in the company in the future at a discounted price per share when the company raises its next round of financing.

To learn more about startup investment types check out “How to Choose a Startup Investment” in our academy.

What will I need to complete my investment?

To make an investment, you will need the following information readily available:

  1. Personal information such as your current address and phone number
  2. Employment and employer information
  3. Net worth and income information
  4. Social Security Number or passport
  5. ABA bank routing number and checking account number (typically found on a personal check or bank statement)

Because Sickweather is offering its securities under Rule 506(c) of Regulation D, your status as an Accredited Investor will also need to be verified and you will be asked to provide documentation supporting your income, net worth, revenue, or net assets or a letter from a qualified advisor such as a Registered Investment Advisor, Registered Broker Dealer, Lawyer, or CPA.

What if I change my mind about investing?

Until a closing occurs, you may cancel your investment at any time, for any reason. You will receive an email when the closing occurs and your securities have been issued. If you have already funded your investment and your funds are in escrow, your funds will be promptly refunded to you upon cancellation. To cancel your investment, please go to your portfolio page.

After My Investment
How can I sell my securities in the future?

Currently there is no market or liquidity for these securities. Right now Sickweather does not plan to list these securities on a national exchange or another secondary market. At some point Sickweather may choose to do so, but until then you should plan to hold your investment for a significant period of time before a “liquidation event” occurs. A “liquidation event” is when Sickweather either lists their securities on an exchange, is acquired, or goes bankrupt.

How do I keep track of this investment?

You can return to SeedInvest at any time to view your portfolio of investments and obtain a summary statement.
